Five ::::: Units is a unique website that brings together people and locations in Jerusalem. Public figures choose five favorite sites that they feel emotionally connected to, and write about their memory of them.n
The website tells the story of the city through private eyes of diverse characters. There is no grand history or stories of heroism, but a personal connection and local streets. Childhood memory, events or a feeling are the basis of this website. These choices represent the familiar side of many locations and thereby remove the high walls that surround us; they actually give us a direction to these places. Readers are exposed to a personal angle of the sites and start to know more about their environment.h
The diversity of Jerusalem is its greatest virtue and its greatest challenge – this site is giving a different view of Jerusalem. This is a free, non-critical, point of view which will allow everyone to participate with writing, and anyone to find a point of view he or she could relate to.j
Old Jerusalem has four historic quarters, but also in the New Jerusalem – East and West – there are separate areas divided by high buffers between them. It is almost hard to believe, but the Jerusalem Cinematheque, Mea She'arim and the Temple Mount are only 20 minutes walk between them, and yet, not many have visited all three sites. The vision is to put together a personal tour guide for Jerusalem, with which anyone will be able to walk around the city and get to know another layer of this special place.h
